You might have had the Apple or Amazon scam email in the past (and how mean is the HMRC fake tax rebate one?!), but there’s a new Whatsapp scam that you might need to be aware of…

People have reported that they’ve been targeted by a message claiming that their current subscription to the messaging service has expired, encouraging the user to click on the link to renew.

Whatsapp has been a free app for many years now, although in the past they did charge a small fee. Many users have been clicking in the scam-link oblivious to the fact that the fee has now been scrapped.

The message reads, To verify your account and purchase a lifetime subscription for just 0.99 GDP simply tap on this link.”

If you get one of these dodgy messages, you should delete and block the sender.
Don’t say we didn’t warn you!
