New YouTube Rule could affect young entrepreneurs

YouTube has upgraded their latest Partner Programme agreement and social media isn’t happy.

Many users of the site alongside critics have accused the 50 billion dollar site of cutting income for up and coming channels to filter out the likes of Logan Paul. Recently YouTube had found its self in hot oil when Logan Paul, a YouTube Star, published a video showing a dead body in Japan’s Aokigahara forest.

On Tuesday evening a stricter policy regarding its Partner Programme was released. With this being the second Partner Programme agreement in just under a year, it shows that YouTube is attempting to tackle the problem. However, are the right people being punished?

The new Partner Programme policy has increased the requirements that YouTubers may need to make an income from their content. YouTubers must now have 4,000 hours of overall watch-time on their channels within the past 12 months, alongside have a minimum of at least 1,000 subscribers. 

Influencers and views, took to Twitter to voice their opinion; many feel that these policies being implemented are due to the small majority such as Logan Paul, however they believe that Youtube is punishing “small YouTube creators” who are the future of Youtube.
