In case you missed it, Nicki Minaj took to witter yesterday to air her frustrations on the music industry.
Tweeting directly at MTV, the rapper expressed her disappointments in ‘Anaconda’ and ‘Feeling Myself’ not getting nominated for a Video of the Year award.
Videos nominated for the award include Taylor Swift’s ‘Bad Blood’, Beyoncé’s ‘7/11’, Ed Sheeran‘s ‘Thinking Out Loud’, Mark Ronson and Bruno Mars’s ‘Uptown Funk’ and Kendrick Lamar’s ‘Alright.’.
Her tweets then got an unexpected response from Taylor Swift, who claimed Nicki was “pitting women against each other”, and then apologised by offering Nicki to “go on stage” with her.
Twitter also blew up with debates on women of colour not getting their due credit, and of songs celebrating slim women as opposed to thick women getting awards.
Nicki Minaj also confronted Ryan Seacrest for tweeting a post (now deleted) on her exchange with Taylor Swift, saying Nicki Minaj “threw jabs” while Taylor did nothing but “love and support” Nicki.
Entertainment Weekly was soon to follow, being accused of feeding into the “angry black woman” notion by posting the pic (now deleted) below.
Bruno Mars and Ed Sheeran decided to poke fun at the spat:
And Aaron Paul tried his best to “diffuse” the situation with pancakes, but no one has taken up his offer yet:
Talk about bad blood!
