Nino SLG is determined to leave his mark on the UK Rap scene. In an industry that’s often accused of rewarding surface-level art over something deeper, it can be hard for genuine artists to stick to the course. However, Nino SLG has always been about sharing his unapologetic self through his music, and this continues with the live performance of “Monster”.
Released as part of his EP Mirror Story three weeks ago, “Monster” is a track that garnered significant attention as just an audio both within and outside Nino’s cult fanbase. This live performance takes the emotional weight to another level though.
Taking an entirely acoustic approach, Nino is responsible for the only two instruments in the entire performance; his vocals and the piano. The result is an already beautiful song stripped to its core, exemplifying the stark notes of the piano and the weight of his words even further.
The accompanying visuals match this tone too. Nino SLG is the sole person in the shot, further conveying the sense of both isolation but also how personal this track is to him. Sometimes the simplest things can actually tell the most complex stories; a concept that Nino masterfully executes with this performance.
