So if you’e been on holiday within Europe and subconsciously continued to use your phone as you would have in the Uk then chances are you’ve been a victim of Data Roaming charges. Some people have racked up hundreds or even thousands of pounds worth of usage by forgetting that there are charges for using your phone abroad. This worry can now be clear of every UK resident for when they go on holiday as from mid-2017, NO more charges will be placed, only the usual charge you would receive as you would using it at home.

The Guardian says “Members of the European parliament have voted through new rules that will scrap mobile roaming charges and stop holidaymakers returning home to the nightmare of a massive phone bill racked up on their travels. The vote sees the deal reached between European authorities in June to scrap increased costs for calls, text and data while roaming with the EU, passed into law.”

This is a massive change and we will see hopefully less people rack up the charges as they have been doing in the past years. Remember not to get ahead of yourself though, unless you’re on 3, the charges will still be in place until mid-2017. Roll on the next two years then!
