A new documentary titled The Rise Of No Signal: Black RadioHere To Stay has arrived on BBC Three!

Last year at a time when live streams appeared to take over social media during a global pandemic, the radio station No Signal emerged as one of the key players.

The independent online radio station had only been up for several weeks when it began to pick up serious traction and had been broadcasting from the London bedrooms of the team’s founders. Via independent radio, No Signal has brought Black communities together and has been getting everyone through lockdown.

Now, BBC Three has shared a new documentary about how a group of talented friends came together to form No Signal, and how a radio station broadcasting and live streaming from their homes grew into a UK phenomenon.

The synopsis on the BBC website reads: “As lockdown hit, a new radio station was born – a station keeping people entertained at a time when Britain shut down.

“This is the story of how a group of friends came together to form No Signal, and how a radio station broadcast from their bedrooms quickly grew to become something much bigger.”
