Filmmaker Nathan Miller has made another fantastic documentary exploring the music scene in Toronto, called Northside.
Naturally the spotlight has been firmly on the city since Drake and The Weeknd reached stratospheric heights with their music, giving many other young artists hope that they too, would be able to replicate this success.
In recent years the city has somewhat been twinned with London musically, with many artists Like Skepta and Giggs boasting fan bases in the 6ix, but also in the sense that Canadian hip hop has been shunned by hip-hop’s ancestral home, the United States.
A situation that UK artists are only too familiar with, but with breakthrough acts coming from both cities this is all set to change over the coming years and Nathan Miller’s documentary features some of the hot prospects that we all should keep our eyes on.
If you missed Nathan’s last documentary about our very own city, be sure to feast your eyes on one of the most well-made documentaries on the scene to date: LDN
