N.W.A’s clasic 1988 single “F**k Tha Police” has picked up nearly quadruple the amount of streams since last weekend.
Between May 27 and June 1, “F**k Tha Police” saw a 272% increase in streams, having picked up more streams particularly on Sunday 31st May and Monday 1st June with 765,000 audio streams over those two days – which is nearly five times the streams the song received a week prior to the protests.
The track’s lyrics take aim at police brutality and racial profiling and over 30 years later, its message is still relevant.
Other tracks which have seen a surge in streaming are Childish Gambino’s “This Is America”, Kendrick Lamar’s “Alright” and Public Enemy’s “Fight The Power”.
