O.J. Simpson, the iconic former American football player, has passed away at the age of 76, according to recent reports.
In a poignant statement released on X, his family disclosed the news, revealing that Simpson lost his battle with cancer on April 10th.
“Our father, Orenthal James Simpson, passed away surrounded by his children and grandchildren,” the family shared, urging the public to respect their privacy during this challenging time.
Simpson’s legacy is indelibly marked by the highly-publicised trial in October 1995, where he was famously acquitted of the murder charges of his ex-wife and another individual.
His trial was dramatised in the American Crime Story drama series on Netflix, where he was portrayed by Cuba Gooding Jnr.
OJ Simpson also enjoyed a career as an actor himself, appearing in films like the cult classic comedy Naked Gun.
