Your eyes are not deceiving you. Yes, there is actually a footballer that is indeed 73 years old and the Israeli footballer has entered the record books by becoming the oldest player to take part in a professional game.
Isaak Hayik set the record by playing as goalkeeper for Israeli team Ironi or Yehuda on Friday afternoon and Hayik received the Guinness World Record prize during a ceremony after the match just days before his 74th birthday.
Despite the fact that his team was beaten to an unfortunate 5-1 by Maccabi Ramat Gan, the Iraqi national was said to have made a few impressive saves during the match.
One of his sons described his father’s achievements within the sport as “unbelievable” and Hayik told reporters during his post-match interview that he was “ready for another game”.
