UK-based content subscription service OnlyFans will ban sexually explicit content, it has been announced.

In a statement today, the company said: “OnlyFans will prohibit the posting of any content containing sexually explicit conduct.”

It added: “In order to ensure the long-term sustainability of the platform, and to continue to host an inclusive community of creators and fans, we must evolve our content guidelines.”

The company said the decision has been made “to comply with the requests of our banking partners and payout providers”.

However, OnlyFans did add that content creators will be able to post nudity ““as long as it is consistent with our Acceptable Use Policy.”

Since being established in 2016, OnlyFans has commonly been associated with pornographic content but the company has grown beyond that reputation in recent times, with more artists – such as DJ Khaled – using the site to provide fans with exclusive non-explicit content.

The ban on sexually explicit content will commence in October but OnlyFans has said it will share more details on its new policy in the coming days.
