1xtra are currently enjoying their year long season of celebrating spoken word poetry, under the branding “Words First”. They’ve teamed up with Don’t Flop to bring a special Poets vs Rappers battle.
Spoken word and slam poets go head to head with seasoned battle rap veterans in the clip above. The likes of Blizzard, Quill, Shuffle T and Marlo go head to head with poets like Harry Baker, making for an interesting – and hilarious – one of a kind battle. It’s great to see an under appreciated art form get tested in a new arena like this.
