Another day, another killing.
Sadly, reports are coming in of yet another tragedy related to those who are supposed to protect us. In California, police have shot dead 30 year old Alfred Olango.
The event took place last night in the El Cajo suburb, near San Diego. Officers responded to a 911 call, detailing a man acting “erratically” behind a restaraunt.
He was reportedly “not acting like himself” and was moving in a way which endangered himself and others, according to the police.
When he didn’t respond to their orders, he allegedly kept his hand in his pockets and drew for an object, before holding it ““like you would be holding a firearm”, according to Police Chief Jeff Davis said.
One officer then discharged his firearm, while another fired his taser, fatally injuring the man.
It has since been reported that the man suffers from epilepsy and his behaviour was due to him having a seizure. Officers have since seized all witnesses phones.
His sister arrived on the scene, understandably angry with officers. She apparently made the initial call, saying, “I called you to help me, but you killed my brother.”
As always with these types of tragedies, details are convoluted and sources are giving mixed perspectives. The investigation is ongoing.
