This week, Police in Glasgow were called to break up a crowd of 3000 people.
Usually breaking up protests, parties, and other events, this gathering was slightly different to the usual type of crowd control than they’re used to as they were called down to the local IKEA to break up a monumental game of hide-and-seek.
The staff of the Glasgow IKEA came across the idea on Facebook, where they were informed that a large group of young people were planning to set their huge game within the store. The police turned away anyone who looked like they had arrived at the store for the game.
Manger of the Scottish store, Rob Cooper ended the game due to safety concerns and told the public “The safety of our customers and co-workers is always our highest priority. We were aware of an unofficial Hide and Seek Facebook event being organised to take place at our store today and have been working with the local police for support.
“While we appreciate playing games in one of our stores may be appealing to some, we do not allow this kind of activity to take place to ensure we are offering a safe environment and relaxed shopping experience for our customers.”
