Popcaan has unveiled his new mixtape Vanquish, his first release since signing to Drake’s OVO Sound label.
At ten tracks long, listeners are provided with a generous offering of new music from the dancehall star and Popcaan ensures there is something for everyone on this tape.
Tracks like “Love You” and “Gimmi Love” see the artist bring his melodic lyricism to instrumentals which play with elements of afrobeats whilst tracks like “Happy and Wealthy” are clearly inspired by hip-hop.
The young dancehall artist proves himself as one of Jamaica’s brightest stars with this project and his new label deal with Drake sets him up to take over the world.
Vanquish follows the release of the album Forever in 2018 which housed the singles “Wine For Me”, “Firm and Strong” and “Body So Good”.
Away from his solo releases, Popcaan has collaborated with several artists this year and provided a track to the Top Boy soundtrack.
Davido’s track “Risky” featuring vocals from the artist has become a fan favourite.
