It looks like we could be seeing some big changes to Twitter in 2020, according to Twitter’s vice president of design and research.
Although nothing has been formally announced as of yet, Twitter’s VP of design and research, Dantley Davis, took to the platform on Monday to share his tweet: “Features that I’m looking forward to in 2020”.
The potential changes mentioned mostly fit into the category of user privacy, and hint that users may be able to remove themselves from conversations, restrict the use of others mentioning the user without permission and granting the user the ability to tweet solely towards a hashtag, interest or specific group of people, amongst other things.
Davis’ tweet suggests Twitter is making efforts towards combating online harassment via the platform. Having the option to remove yourself from a conversation or to require permission from mentions could be a step in the right direction in order to improve the experience of users that are currently receiving unwanted interaction.
Dantly Davis then returned to the topic on Tuesday and tweeted: “Thanks for the feedback and discussion on the ideas that i’m excited to explore in the future. Our goal is to continue to improve the public conversation on Twitter and getting feedback on our ideas as we prioritize our work”.
For now, all we can do is wait and see if these changes become a reality very soon.
