There’s a new wave swelling in the world of UK rap music. For many years, the first sound people associated with the UK scene was drill, or even at times afrobeats. Now though, a style more akin to the melody tinged SoundCloud wave of the mid 2010’s is back in full effect. Led by the likes of Rushy, Ashbeck and of course Nemzzz, it’s a sonical landscape which is inherently brighter and more joyful, whilst crucially still retaining a certain street essence.
As mentioned, Nemzzz has spearheaded this movement, receiving international recognition and tens of millions of views. One artist who is not so evolved in their journey but seems poised for similar success eventually is Pozer. Hailing from Croydon, the original release of “Kitchen Stove” has already racked up notoriety on TikTok, as well as the official charts, so a remix only made sense.
Tapping Nemzzz alongside fellow wonderkids JS and YD, it’s a well thought out and carefully executed collaboration which just works.
Be sure to check out the visuals above and keep it locked on GRM Daily for further releases from Pozer.
