Primark will stay open for 24 hours after lockdown to aid Christmas shopping.

Primark does not currently trade online and their sales dropped dramatically in the first lockdown from revenue of £650 million per month to £0.

When the UK national lockdown ends on the 2nd of December, Primark has said that they will not only keep several stores open for 24 hours but that other stores will also have their opening hours extended.

11 stores will be open to 24 hours and the branches include, Trafford, Bluewater, Birmingham Fort, London Stratford and London White City.

Primark’s chief executive said in a statement, “We are delighted to re-open our stores in England on 2 December, with longer shopping hours to give our customers more time to safely do their festive shopping.”

“We have everything this season that our customers expect from Primark, including our famous Christmas jumpers, festive pyjamas and much, much more.”

When national lockdown ends, retail and non-essential stores will once again open. However, the newly redesigned tier system will come into place and areas will be subject to restrictions based on the status of their hometown.

Currently, under all three tiers, retail shops will remain open but household mixing, overnight stays, wedding receptions, indoor entertainment venues and bars/pubs will be forced to close under Tier 3 restrictions.

London is currently in Tier 2 whilst Manchester, Birmingham, Bristol, Kent and more will enter Tier 3 from the 2nd of December.

Tier restrictions are set to be suspended for five days at Christmas and will be reviewed every two weeks.
