Episode two of the new two-part documentary series, Queens of Music, is here and it celebrates the often-overlooked contributions of black women in the British music industry.

This landmark series is the first dedicated to showcasing the perspectives of black women in music, weaving personal testimonies with archival footage to tell uplifting, untold stories. The episodes highlight trailblazers who have broken barriers in a predominantly male and white industry, carving out legacies that have shaped British pop culture over the past four decades.

The episodes spotlight women across various industry roles, including A&R representatives, managers, agents and label executives. Notable figures include Cookie Pryce, a UK hip-hop pioneer who transitioned into a successful behind-the-scenes career; Sandra Scott, who worked with artists like Soul II Soul and Stormzy; and Jada Pollock, Wizkid’s manager who helped catapult his global career. Other featured professionals include Taponeswa Mavunga, Sheniece Charway, Dellessa James and founders of The Black Music Coalition and The Debrief, Char Grant, Afryea Henry-Fontaine and Komali Scott-Jones.
