R Kelly has been charged with ten counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse.

The news was confirmed by the Chigago Sun-Times who have stated that prosecutors are now seeking an arrest warrant for the singer.

Last week, a grand jury convened following a 45-minute video tape received by Cook County prosecutors which is said to show R Kelly performing multiple sex acts with a girl who is believed to be 14-years-old.

Two women who allege R Kelly had sex with minors testified to the grand jury last week, with one of the women providing the tape. The physical evidence is said to have played a vital role in the new charges against R Kelly.

The charges come just weeks after Lifetime aired the ‘Surviving R Kelly’ docuseries in which several of R Kelly’s alleged victims revealed two decades of sexual abuse from the 52-year-old singer. R Kelly has denied all accusations against him.

His first court date is set to take place on 8th March.
