Rachel Dolezal has been a figure of controversy since her parents revealed back in 2015 that she was identifying as black. She’s now caused more outrage with a brand new interview.
Last night she spoke to Emily Maitlis of BBC Newsnight about her experiences and viewpoints. It’s bound to cause controversy as the woman – born to caucasian parents – says “race is a lie”.
She also argued a case for the merit of the term “transracial”, similarly to transgender, in reference to people who identify to a race other than the one they were born with.
Dolezal also speaks about alleged racism she faced whilst growing up, as well as her bound-to-be controversial new book Full Color: Finding My Place in a Black and White World.
