Manchester City star Raheem Sterling has launched a new foundation to support the next generation.
Titled The Raheem Sterling Foundation, the new initiative is dedicated to educating, empowering and inspiring young people to achieve greater social mobility while also embracing opportunities.
The foundation will focus on improving social mobility, further education and empowering young people in London, Manchester and Kingston, Jamaica – all areas with close ties to Sterling.
The football star launched the foundation yesterday (November 16) at his former school, Ark Elvin Academy, in Brent.
“My journey to date has been well documented but nothing would have been achievable without belief, family, great mentors and the opportunities I have embraced,” Sterling said.
“My foundation is built on my experiences, successes and the many challenges I overcame, I now want to help young people achieve and be the best they can be.”
The Raheem Sterling Foundation is inspired by ‘The Power of 7’ – a reference to Sterling’s number at Man City – which are seven elements that make up the organisation’s core values: education, employment, enterprise, creativity, personal development, accountability and social mobility.
The foundation has already announced major partnerships with Headspace, who will help provide education about mental health to young people, and The Promise Foundation, who will assisting in delivering mentorship to students at Ark Elvin Academy.
