Last month, Red Rum spoke about his experiences in jail on Channel 5’s Inside The Gang documentary and now it looks like the rapper could be facing jail time once again.
Red Rum – real name Tyrone Castello – recently appeared in Basildon Crown Court where he admitted to waving a sword, disguised as a walking stick, in public shortly after Christmas. Judge David Owen-Jones branded the rapper “totally irresponsible” for showing up late and missing two previous hearings and remanded Red Rum into custody.
Red Rum is said to have waved the sword at three men on Queens Road in Southend on 27th December, before he was arrested by the police.
Castello’s admittance to custody comes just weeks after the rapper appeared on the controversial Inside The Gang documentary in which he discussed his previous convictions and offences. The show faced backlash by some viewers who accused Channel 5 of being irresponsible for showcasing UK gang culture to young viewers.
Red Rum is set to remain in custody until his sentence hearing on the 26th June.
