Reebok have offered free shoes to people who give evidence of themselves burning their New Balance shoes.
This comes after New Balance, specifically the Vice President of Public Affairs Matt LeBretton, emphasised their support for President-elect Donald Trump.
Things got worse after this declaration, with neo-nazi website The Dailer Stormer endorsed the footwear company as the “official sneakers of white people”.
Reebok, on the other hand, were having a field day responding to Twitter users who were doing all sorts with their old New Balance’s, including burning, throwing them out the window and flushing them down the toilet.
Reebok even replied to somebody who had done the latter saying, “Since it looks like your toilet may be clogged, shoot us a DM and we’ll send you some kicks to walk to the closest bathroom.”
However, New Balance claim the comment from LeBretton were taken out of context, stating, “The statement is correct in the context of trade, not talking about large geo-political anything, but in the context of the Trans-Pacific Partnership agreement.
I guess that’s karma for supporting any kind of policy from a man affiliated with misogyny, homophobia, xenophobia, racism… the list goes on.
