The 26th of November at 23:59 is the deadline to register to vote for the General Election on the 12th of December 2019. After what has already been a turbulent year, with numerous stalls to Brexit, this election sees the three main parties promise resolutions to the longstanding stalemate on the issue of how Brexit should be handled.

Registering to vote can take as little as 5 mins via the Government website. It can be completed easily as long as you have your National Insurance number and DOB to hand.

Our position within the European Union isn’t the only thing that should dictate where you place those all important X’s  – with issues such as the NHS, immigration, investment in youth services and public housing all hotly contest topics among political parties, its important that we take the time to read through their manifestos and make informed decisions.

It has arguably been the proliferation of misinformation that has allowed unscrupulous politicians to continue to reign supreme; it’s simply criminal to allow this to continue during the age of information.

This election is the first December vote since 1923, and with so much at stake participation, especially from young people, is more important than ever.
