Ever since the release of his 2013 released debut project Rejovich, which established his cult following, fans have been eagerly awaiting for Rejjie Snow to return. Not only is the remainder of his album Dear Annie dropping on Friday, but he has also just released some brand new visuals for his track “Egyptian Luvr” featuring Aminé and Dana Williams with perfect Valentines Day timing.
The smooth, Kaytranada-produced lick shows how far Rejjie’s musical scope has come, with newer cadences and experimental sounds now in his musical catalogue. During his absence after Rejovich’s release, Rejjie did some travelling and the experimental tone through his new album really showcases this. “Egyptian Luvr” features globally renowned Ethiopian artist Aminé who offers a completely different rapping style to Rejjie’s; a far more melodic and trance-y approach, which absolutely rounds the song off perfectly as both verses are laced with a sweet vocal chorus from Dana Williams.
The video itself, directed by Alima Lee, is entirely nostalgic, reminiscent of an old Daft Punk music video, adding an additional grand depth to the song’s overall feel; creating an entire listening experience.
