Last night, while performing alongside Lil Kim at the ‘VH1 Hip Hop Honors’ show, Rich Homie Quan appeared to forget the lyrics to the Notorious B.I.G’s verse on “Get Money.” To make matters worse, the rapper was dressed in what looks like a Coogi sweater for the homage – a style that Biggie made famous.
On his Instagram today, the rapper apologised for the mistake and defended himself, blaming technical issues and nervousness for the mess-up.
He wrote, “I assure you that I never intended to disrespect Biggie Smalls. I have long respected his work and his contribution to the rap game. I greatly apologize not only to Biggie Smalls, but also to all of my fans, Biggie Smalls fans and to New York.”
Lil Kim replied to the post, supporting Quan, writing “People make mistakes and things happen sometimes that we can’t fix or undo. If you guys only knew the technical difficulties that went on behind the scenes.”
The apology didn’t stop him from being chosen as The Breakfast Club’s Donkey of The Day though.
Twitter of course wasn’t impressed, and quickly began slating Quan.
