Former host of GGR, Richie Driss, has been announced as the latest presenter to join the BBC’s long-running children’s television show, Blue Peter.

Richie will replace Radzi Chinyanganya, who departed the show after five years, and will become Blue Peter’s 38th presenter.

On his new job, Richie said, “To say that becoming a Blue Peter presenter is a dream come true doesn’t even begin to describe it. To be named presenter of the longest running children’s television programme in the world is a far bigger achievement than I ever dreamt possible. I cannot wait to get started and follow in the footsteps of the 60 years of iconic presenters who have worn the famous Blue Peter badge before me. I am going to give it my all, no matter what the job throws at me.”

Prior to his new appointment, Richie produced and presented weekly content on Joe Media which included interviews and physical challenges. Richie also presented our exclusive show, GGR (Gadgets, Games and Rhymes) in its early days. The series began in 2016 and Richie joined Mr Midas and Jee Mun as hosts of the series which saw them interview artists as they competed against each other whilst playing some of your favourite video games. Check out Richie in the very first episode of GGR below.

On their new host, Helen Bullough, head of the BBC’s children’s in house productions, said, “Richie has that Blue Peter ‘can do’ attitude that has inspired so many generations of children over the past 60 years and which still remains at the heart of the show today. He is going to be a fantastic addition to the programme.”

Congratulations Richie!
