Rihanna’s 9th album was one of the most anticipated musical releases of the last decade.
Fans were teased by the singer and promised the album in 2019. The Bajan superstar didn’t release it though and many were left angry and disappointed.
Rumours have swirled for years about the album. Several different release dates, concepts and features were teased but little information has been confirmed.
Rihanna eventually said in an interview that she would be releasing a reggae album which would see her work with several of the world’s biggest dancehall artists.
The “Wasn’t Me” artist turned down the opportunity to work on the album as Rihanna asked him to audition.
Shaggy said, “They approached me for the Rihanna project, There’s a lot of great people involved but for me, I didn’t need to audition to be on the record, I’ll leave that to younger guys.”
Shaggy has seen mainstream success since 1992 and continues to collaborate with artists such as Sting and Major Lazer.
