The Mayor of London Sadiq Khan has teamed up with London’s most influential young stars to launch a new campaign hoping to put a stop to knife crime amongst young people in London.
From grime and rap artists such as Yungen and Bossman Birdie, to popular bloggers like The Slumflower, the Mayor’s campaign seeks to work alongside these important young artists as well as several families of knife-crime victims, to inspire young people that their lives are too valuable to risk by carrying a knife.
With the rising level of knife crime in the capital, making it 40 Londoners under the age of 25 that have been fatally stabbed this year alone, there has never been a more crucial time for this campaign.
Sadiq said, “We need to get the message across that our young Londoners are too valuable to risk their lives by carrying a knife. They are our future musicians, artists, sportsmen and women, comedians, scientists, politicians, entrepreneurs and role models. We need them.”
