The legendary San Siro stadium is set to be demolished, according to the A.C Milan chairman Paolo Scaroni.
A.C Milan and Inter Milan are expected to build a brand-new stadium together which will be plotted on the same area of land as the San Siro.
Spekaing to the La Gazzetta dello Sports, Scaroni said: “Everything is proceeding. We will build a new San Siro next to the old one on the same area of land”.
“The old one will be knocked down and, in its place, there will be new constructions.”
San Siro was built in 1925 and has hosted four European cup finals, as well as six games in the 1990 World Cup.
Milan is currently a candidate city for the 2026 Olympics and Scaroni hopes the new stadium will be built in time to host the opening ceremony there, if Milan wins its bid to host the games.
