A Scottish football commentator has been sacked after saying he went for a half-time “jobby” – which is Scottish slang for a number 2 – while live on air.
Bobby Bulloch had been co-commentating alongside Tony Haggerty for the Hamilton Accies during their Tuesday night 2-1 defeat against Ross County.
After he was missing for the early part of the second half of the game, Bulloch returned to say he had gone for “a wee jobby”. He even added he had to “squeeze quite a bit”.
While viewers took to social media to laugh at the funny story detailed by Bulloch, Hamilton Accies weren’t as amused and confirmed he had been fired for the comments on Twitter.
“A contractor used by the club on summarising / co-commentary duties overstepped the mark this evening with a very poor attempt at humour,” they wrote.
“The club didn’t find this funny, and the person will not be used again. Our apologies for this.”
The lesson to be learnt here is that some things are better left unsaid.
