Well… on public pavements that is.
New legislation from the Crown Protection Service warns that it is now an offence to drive handle-less segways or, as JME calls them, swegways, on the pavement.
Their website reads, “A Segway Personal Transporter may not be driven on a pavement in England and Wales. Under section 72 of the Highway Act 1835 (extends to England and Wales only) it is an offence to wilfully ride on the footway.”
And of course a lot of people aren’t going to be happy about this, so the CPS have even posted an FAQ list (below) to halt people’s complaints.
