We’ve received the first trailer for Marvel’s upcoming movie, Shang-Chi and The Legend Of The 10 Rings.
Due for release on September 3rd, Shang-Chi and The Legend Of The 10 Rings is Marvel’s first movie that is centred around an Asian protagonist and will follow Shang-Chi (played by Simu Liu) as he delves into his past and takes on the Ten Rings organisation.
From working a day job to taking selfies with friends, the trailer for the film starts off by showing Shang-Chi living a normal life before we see him confronting the 10 Rings organisation and things become a lot more action-packed!
We hear Shang-Chi’s father Wenwu (Tony Yeung), speak during the trailer, explaining how he trained his son “so the most dangerous people in the world couldn’t kill” him.
“There are many iterations of Shang-Chi throughout the comics, but there was always a core relationship between him and his father that was extremely complicated — and that was something I really related to,” director Destin Daniel Cretton told EW.
“That was a big part of what I pitched: using the movie to explore the psychology of a kid who was trained to be a killer when he was young. Now that he has broken out of that, how does he learn to redefine himself in the world and find the balance of what his relationship with his father should be?”
