Courtesy of BBC’s Radio 1Xtra and in celebration of one of the most legendary and pioneering grime emcees, Stormin, Sir Spyro reunited Nasty Crew to perform an exclusive tribute set to the late rapper.
Last Monday, news spread that Stormin had passed away after a lengthy battle with skin cancer, an illness which he had been bravely fighting to the very end.
In his prime and at the humble beginnings of grime, Stormin was a part of Nasty Crew, a collective consisting of the likes of Marcus Nasty, Griminal, Ghetts, Kano, D Double E and many others, all of which really paved the way for what the genre has transitioned to become now. The crew were also famously known for their clash against fellow grime group Roll Deep, going back to back on Déjà Vu many years ago.
Ever since the news broke on social media, many artists, both new and old took time to sincerely pay their respects to Stormin, who was so influential to those around him. The likes of Skepta, Plastician and DJ P Montana all showed love via their Twitter accounts, messages which all carried a mutual expression of appreciation and upmost respect for Stormin, with aims to continue to his legacy for years to come.
