It was revealed yesterday that a collaboration between Skepta and indie band The 1975 may be in the works.
The possible collab was revealed by The 1975’s lead vocalist, Matthew Healy, in an interview with NME last night. Talking to NME, Healy said Skepta and the band tried to work together recently but it “didn’t work out” for several reasons. “We’re gonna do something in the future” he added, “maybe start a band together – just me and Skepta”.
Healy’s comments were made in an interview at the NME Awards last night where him and Skepta managed to bag some awards. Healy and his group won “Best Live Band” while Skepta took home the award for “Best Male Artist”.
Clearly, Healy and Skepta are talented artists capable of making a grime-meets-indie hit. Hopefully we’ll get to hear their collaboration in the near future.
