slowthai has come through with his highly-anticipated second studio album titled TYRON.
Following on from his 2019 debut Nothing Great About Britain, slowthai’s latest LP is a double album which enables the Northampton rapper to showcase contrasting sides of his artistry – a high-energy side and a more mellow one.
The first half of the album begins with the raw Kwes Darko-produced”45 SMOKE”, which sets the tone for the first half of the project which also houses the recently released bangers “MAZZA” with A$AP Rocky and “CANCELLED” with Skepta.
“i tried” – a more controlled offering – kicks off the second part of the project and that steady tone is carried throughout the rest of the tape. Additional guest features come from Dominic Fike, Denzel Curry, Deb Never, James Blake and Mount Kimbie.
“This album was created during a difficult time in my life,” slowthai wrote when announcing the project on Instagram in November.
“i am far from perfect but i’ve learnt a lot about myself whilst creating this album and i will continue to grow into a better person for myself and aim to be a reflection of what i want to see in this world.”
“i hope this album can be the light if you’re in the dark, and to know you’re not alone. it’s okay to be yourself, fuck everything else. learn, grow, aim to be better than you were yesterday.”
