You’d better keep an eye on your crep this Autumn. Horticultural experts are expected to issue strong warnings that a plague of slugs is going to hit our streets soon, with perfect breeding conditions allowing them to thrive.

The experts are also encouraging people to start taking action against the imminent apocalypse now to help control the slimy attack.

TV gardener Bob Flowerdew wrote in this week’s Amateur Gardener magazine, “I don’t think I’ve ever seen so many (slugs) and I’ve heard the same from almost everyone else. Winter’s coming and many will be killed off, but as there’s so many more about it seems likely even greater numbers than ever will survive. Next spring there’s probably going to be an even bigger slug and snail problem.”

Apparently, the best way to control the slugs is to “scoop them up one by one and put them in a jar,” or if you’re feeling a sadistic wave you could always put down a saucer of beer for them to drown themselves in. Nice.
