Solomon claims via his Spotify bio that “I make music for you to cry/vibe/sleep to” and it’s hard to argue otherwise. Emerging onto the underground London R&B scene in 20158 his subsequent releases have varied in sonical range, but have always been grounded in visceral emotion.

Recent release “phases” continues this theme, with Solomon pouring his emotions over a soulful guitar-led instrumental. It’s smooth and heartfelt, something that you could indeed both cry and sleep to. Tapping Kojey Radical for the feature offers a dynamic twist to the track which ensures it can’t be labeled as ‘just another love song’. Rapping with trademark charisma and vocal clarity, it’s an expertly picked feature that succeeds in complimenting, as opposed to overshadowing, Solomon’s work.

This is Solomon’s first release of 2023, and hopefully, it will be a fulfilling year for the young artist. The talent is clearly there, whilst the cosign from Kojey points to his own artistic vision and credibility. It could well be the year his unmistakable ability is launched into the stratosphere; be sure to keep it locked on GRM to follow his journey.
