England’s impressive run in the 2018 World Cup was undoubtedly one of the biggest moments of this year and COPA90 recently caught up with Gareth Southgate to discuss where it all went right.
Since the World Cup, many have speculated what triggered England’s winning streak and the England manager is able to shed light on how he approached the tournament and the team in order to get the best out of the squad. As well as attempting to create a genuine team amongst the players, Southgate explains the key to success also stems from his desire to relieve the squad from external factors such as the media and previous tournament failures.
Now that Southgate and the England players know what works best, hopefully they’ll be able to replicate their World Cup run in future tournaments.
