As brands continuously make moves to bring people together, yesterday (May 11), Spotify launched a brand new Group Sessions feature.
Group Sessions works by allowing participants – who must be premium users of Spotify – to scan a barcode generated by the host users profile. All participants are then able to add, remove, play and skip tracks in a shared queue.
According to TechCrunch, the real-time social listening feature has been in the works for a year now and it couldn’t have come at a better time.
The launch comes a week after Spotify launched its Listening Together campaign, which included a microsite that flagged when two listeners anywhere in the world started listening to the same track at the same time.
Spotify has rolled out a feature which allows users to directly donate to artists or a handful of charities that have partnered with Spotify to support their ongoing COVID-19 Music Relief project.
