Just over 11 years ago, Spotify burst into the music tech scene and changed the entire game and the way we all consume music forever. This was no small feat and so its unsurprising that a book which details the growth and journey of the music tech giants is being turned into a television series for Netflix.
Based on the book, Spotify Untold, the scripted series will focus on the creators of Spotify Daniel Ek and Martin Lorentzon and their journey taking their brand from local to global.
Spotify has had a significant cultural impact on the entire world, when this technology first came into our lives piracy was a growing concern in the industry and there were no real other solutions that were both free and legal.
The series is much more than a show about a business, but a real life documentation of how a small Swedish tech startup really went on to change the world. Netflix describes how this series demonstrates “how hard convictions, unrelenting will, access, and big dreams can help small players challenge the status quo.”
The moment is a proud one for everyone involved and the people of Sweden. Director Per- Olav Sornesen commented: “I am excited to bring the story of Sweden based Spotify to life on the screen.
