Some pretty embarrassing news for Spurs fan has come though today, as a Tottenham fan has ended up in hospital after a case of mistaken identity.

Police believe that he was attacked by a fellow supporter after he was allegedly mistaken for a Chelsea fan during the aftermath of their FA Cup semi-final defeat.

He suffered a broken skull and damage to his cheek bone and eye-socket after being punched in the face outside an Indian restaurant. Doctors believe he could be left with permanent damage to his sight.

The Met Police have said in a statement, “It is believed that one of the group has then mistaken Michael for a rival Chelsea supporter and punched him in the face, leaving him injured.”

“This kind of violence has absolutely no place at a football match, and I sincerely hope that those who were with the person responsible do the right thing by Michael, who is a fellow supporter and has supported Tottenham since he was a young boy,” added Det Con James Robb.

The suspect is described as a white man, aged in his early 20s and approximately 5ft 10ins tall.
