Yesterday (June 3), Star Wars actor John Boyega delivered a powerful message to those in attendance at the Black Lives Matter protest in Hyde Park, London and now the Star Wars franchise have expressed their support for Boyega.

The official Star Wars Twitter account tweeted “We stand with and support you, @JohnBoyega” alongside a link to his full speech.

The tweet comes after John Boyega stated his support for the Black Lives Matter movement could cost him his career.

“I’m speaking to you from my heart. Look, I don’t know if I’m going to have a career after this, but f*** that,” Boyega said when speaking to protestors yesterday.

“Today is about innocent people who were halfway through their process, we don’t know what George Floyd could have achieved, we don’t know what Sandra Bland could have achieved, but today we’re going to make sure that won’t be an alien thought to our young ones.”

He also said: “We are a physical representation of our support for George Floyd. We are a physical representation of our support for Sandra Bland. We are a physical representation of our support for Trayvon Martin. We are a physical representation of our support for Stephen Lawrence.”

Boyega was one of thousands of protestors who took to Hyde Park yesterday in response to the unjust murder of George Floyd in the U.S last week. Floyd’s death has sparked protests across the world, including the worldwide Blackout Tuesday on June 2nd.
