One year and eight months ago, the world lost a true Grime pioneer. Shaun Lewis, known within the scene as Stormin sadly passed away after his two year battle against cancer.
The N.A.S.T.Y Crew member published a letter to his fans revealing he was suffering from a form of skin cancer once he found out the devastating news back in July 2016.
“I can admit that I have done some bad things in my time but I’ve also done major good so I ask myself why I have been given this card in life,” he said. “Is it a test? No, it’s a fight I will win so when I’m gone just know it’s for a short time and I’ll #BRB.”
Growing up as a fan of Jungle music, Stormin entered the Grime scene as an original member of the N.A.S.T.Y crew alongside massive names such as D Double E, Kano, and Jammer.
Not only a Grime legend, Stormin continued to graft within his love for Jungle music, working within the Drum and Bass scene he won awards for Best Crowd Hype DnB MC and Best DnB Group with SaSaSaS at the 2016 Drum and Bass Awards.
Touching countless lives and inspiring endless musicians, the East London artist went from an underground MC to one of the biggest names within the Grime and D&B world.
Following his journey from the bottom to the top, the new film, Hype Master is in inside look into Stormin’s life, driven by the urge to connect with fans, friends and his family.
As Doc’N Roll Film Festival returns to London Cinemas from 1st to 17th November for its sixth edition of their music documentary festival, you can get the chance to watch Hype Master premiere.
The premiere, followed by Q&A with the film’s director, Dir. Isaac Reeder is an opportunity to find out more about the story behind Stormin MC’s inspiring journey within the music scene as well as discovering how Dir. Isaac Reeder worked to portray his life in Hype Master.
