Following the recent release of his latest album Heavy Is The Head, the man of the moment, Stormzy will be performing a bible reading for the BBC on Christmas day.

Although the London-born rapper may not be the obvious choice for this set up, he often uses religious references in his music and he openly thanks God in response to his success. Another factor that comes into play is that he is often praised on his public image and media involvement – making him a great choice.

Stormzy will conduct a reading on a passage from The Gospel Of Luke, this shares the story of the arrival of angels to shepherds and signifies the birth of Christ. Following this reading, there will be a performance of The Basque Carol Sing Lullaby performed by The South London Boys Choir Libera. A very fitting choir choice, as it shares locational significance to the rapper.

The reading will air at 11:50pm on Christmas day and will be viewable on BBC One.
