2020 has already got off to a massive start for Stormzy as the south London artist has achieved the first UK number one single of the decade.
Stormzy was able to score such a big achievement with his hit “Own It” featuring Ed Sheeran and Burna Boy, beating the likes of Dua Lipa and Lewis Capaldi to top the charts this week.
Since its release towards the end of November, “Own It” has racked up over 15 million views on YouTube and over 54 million streams on Spotify, with both stats proving the popularity of the massive single.
As well as storming the singles chart, Stormzy also made major waves in the albums chart this week as Heavy Is The Head reached number 2, while fellow south London duo D Block Europe secured their third top ten album in twelve months with their mixtape Street Trauma.
“Own It” is Stormzy’s third number one single, following the likes of “Vossi Bop” and “Take Me Back To London” with Ed Sheeran which were both released last year.
Stormzy’s worldwide tour is due to begin next month and will be yet another huge moment for the artist already this year.
