Men’s style gods Mr Porter have this week published a photoshoot and interview with none other than the Wicked Skengman himself. Skepta may have been on GQ Magazine’s best dressed list, but it seems like Stormzy is the new face in fashion.
The photoshoot has Stormz garmed up in some of Mr Porter’s latest collection, while the interview touches on a number of recent subjects surrounding the Croydon-born MC. He speaks on his sky-high aspirations for the future, saying, “We’re going for Beatles status, that was always the plan.”
For anyone worried that this means Stormzy might be going pop, stop that now: ““I need to make sure [the music’s] amazing. I wouldn’t go poppy, because that’s something I don’t understand, but I’ve been listening to R&B and soul my whole life. It’s part of me.”
While he may be dressed up for the shoot too, don’t expect him to be swapping the Adidas tracksuit any time soon either. He said, “I just wear whatever. When I was invited on Jools Holland, and that’s a prestigious TV show, I was thinking, ‘What do I wear?’ But I thought there’s no point thinking about it. If I have to think about it, then I’m not being myself. So I wore what I like, which is a tracksuit.”
It looks like a career further into fashion is probably off the cards for now, but that’s ok because he’s still on his music. Check out his and Chipmunk’s latest banger “Hear Dis” right here.
