This Friday (December 20th), the 2019 Christmas number one single will be revealed and Stormzy’s hit “Own It” is in the running to take the top spot.
The Official Charts revealed the news earlier today on Twitter, writing: “So it’s looking like a four-way race for #XmasNo1 2019. Game on to @stormzy ft @edsheeran & @burnaboy Vs @LadBabyOfficial Vs #Wham Vs @elliegoulding.”
“Own It” featuring Ed Sheeran and Burna Boy is currently number two in the mid-weeks, following LadBaby’s “I Love Sausage Rolls”. Wham are sitting at third with their classic hit “Last Christmas”, while Ellie Goulding is fourth with “River”.
Since being released three weeks ago, “Own It” has proven to be a massive hit with fans, racking up over 10 million views on YouTube and peaking at number 2 in the charts.
If Stormzy secures this year’s Christmas number one, it will be yet another major win for the south London artist who is currently celebrating the release of his second album, Heavy Is The Head.
