After teasing us with various singles in the past few months, south London producer Swindle has finally gifted us with his latest album, The New World.
Serving as his first solo project since his 2019 album No More Normal, The New World is a powerful 9-track record that hears Swindle use his intricate production skills to piece together a cohesive body of work.
Teaming up with some of the UK’s finest artists, Swindle explores themes such as race, fatherhood, aspirations and love; with the end result being a contemplative yet soulful project.
Joining Swindle on the tape are artists such as Ghetts, Knucks, Greentea Peng, Maverick Sabre, Loyle Carner, Poppy Ajudha, Kojey Radical and more.
The project was recorded in lockdown following the murder of George Floyd and the rise of the Black Lives Matter movement, with Swindle describing the making of the project as a healing process for the events of the last year and a half.
“It’s hard to find the words to tell you how much this one means to me,” Swindle wrote when announcing the album on Instagram back in August, “birthed from a week long musical retreat during a time of pain, chaos and uncertainty this record is the sound of our healing.”
